Frequently asked questions
Quick answers for teams evaluating or using StoryPointLab for planning poker, estimation, sprint capacity, retrospectives, and reusable delivery checklists.
What is StoryPointLab?
StoryPointLab is a web workspace for agile planning. It includes planning poker, a story point estimator, sprint capacity planning, retrospective boards, Definition of Ready templates, and Definition of Done templates.
Do I need an account to use the tools?
No. The core tools can be opened and used without an account. A signed-in team workspace is useful when you want saved templates, named retrospective boards, shared defaults, and persistent team resources.
What happens to anonymous sessions?
Anonymous shared sessions are intended to be temporary. They are designed for quick collaboration through a shared link and are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Can teams save their own templates?
Yes. Team workspaces can store multiple Definition of Ready and Definition of Done templates. Team admins and owners can create, edit, and remove templates as their process changes.
Can retrospectives be saved for a team?
Yes. Team retrospectives can be named and stored so teams can revisit recent boards. Admins and owners can delete old retrospective boards when they are no longer useful.
How does the story point estimator work?
The estimator uses a deterministic rubric across dimensions such as effort, complexity, uncertainty, dependencies, and risk. It is meant to make the reasoning behind an estimate visible, not replace team judgment.
Is StoryPointLab a project management tool?
No. StoryPointLab is intentionally focused on planning and facilitation workflows. It does not try to replace backlog management, issue tracking, source control, or delivery reporting systems.
Does StoryPointLab use Google Sign-In?
Yes. Google Sign-In can be used for authentication. StoryPointLab only uses basic Google account data needed to sign in, create or link the account, and associate the user with teams or invites.
Does StoryPointLab use advertising or analytics cookies?
Optional Google services such as Analytics or AdSense are only loaded after cookie consent. Core tool functionality remains available if optional cookies are declined.
Who operates StoryPointLab?
StoryPointLab is operated by Christian Weiss in Munich, Germany. Provider details are available on the Imprint page, and privacy details are available on the Privacy Policy page.
